by Carol Hamilton
On the shore of sky
I stand and think
of the dark depth’s realities,
held tight with plant-like creatures
waving about unable to move on,
seemingly foolish gestures
which still nourish somehow,
and the bright splashes
of amethyst, blues, golds,
crimson there in total darkness ….
like this night around me,
great ocean of sky
with not one word to say
except, “Fire.”
